With the 'exact' box unchecked, all records that contain the entered text at the beginning of the appropriate field are returned.
e.g. Searching for 'HAR' will return records for HARMRY, HARRIET, HARVEY etc.

Note: This search is not case sensitive, i.e. McFarland will produce the same results as MCFARLAND or Mcfarland etc

These fields must contain either a four digit number or be left blank.

To return the records of all people working in a particular year, enter that year as both the Earliest and Latest year.

The check boxes allow searches of Biographical Dates, Trade Dates or both. It is recommended that both boxes are ticked as some records may be missing data for either the Biographical or Trade Dates and may not be returned by the search.

It is possible to search on all, some or none of these fields.

Selecting a country will automatically limit the choice of counties that can be selected from the drop-down list.

The town name can be selected from the drop down list. This includes all towns included in the records and will be filtered based on the Country selected.

A primary book-related trade may be selected from the alphabetical list of trades found in the drop-down menu, as well as a non-book related trade.

With a Book Trade selected, click Refresh Descriptor List for any available options. Please note that some Book Trades may not have any trade descriptors.
